While most everyone has at least heard of the Holocaust, perhaps not as many have taken the time to truly study the history behind it and what it meant to not only those who perished in the concentration camps, but especially to those who somehow managed to survive their horrors. If nothing else, stories about those who survived the Nazi death camps are tributes to the perseverance of the human soul under unimaginably horrific circumstances. While these things should, of course, have never happened, readers can find inspiration in the tales of people who managed to find the strength to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds.
Historical Knowledge
As fantastic as many of these stories may seem, they are all true and historically accurate. Many younger people in school may not learn as much about the Holocaust as previous generations have, so compelling Auschwitz survivor books of real-life adults and even children who suffered through concentration camps and managed to get out alive is one way to ensure that they remain informed on the Holocaust.
Good Defense
Knowing how awful the Nazis were is one of the best ways to ensure they never gain a foothold in the world ever again. There is very real truth to the old saying “Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.”
