Name Tags are badges that usually either hang around the user’s neck or are attached to their outermost clothing. The purpose of a name tag is to display the name of the person wearing it in order for other people to easily identify him/her. There are two main categories of name tags: temporary and permanent. For temporary tags, the name is in most cases, either printed or written by hand using a marker. By contrast, permanent name tags are made either of plastic, or a metal that is light in weight.

In order to attach the tag to the wearer’s clothes, one could use adhesive, a pin or a magnet. Magnetic backings are increasingly becoming more popular than other forms of attachment. This is because they do not damage clothing in the same way that pins would when puncturing a hole in order to fasten the tag. One precaution you need to take when choosing a name tags design is to ensure that any individual who has a pacemaker does not use the magnetic backing. This is because the magnet is likely to interfere with the proper functioning of the pacemaker.

Additional Options for Displaying the Name Tag

Another option when wearing Name Tags is to use either a necklace or a lanyard. While the main purpose of both is to ensure that the name tag is visible to everybody, the difference between them is in the material used to make them. Necklaces are usually either made from metal, or woven using twine or string. On the other hand, a lanyard is a cord or short length of rope or ribbon.

The purpose of name tags is not just limited to displaying the bearer’s name. When used in large companies, they are also effective in displaying the wearer’s rank or position within the organization. This is useful in that it enables people to communicate more easily and appropriately depending on who they are communicating with. Besides their usefulness in large organizations, name tags are also essential when worn by people who serve customers directly. These include banks, customer care representatives and sales professionals. They act as an effective and immediate ice breaker.
