When people think of seals on cargo shipments and vehicles, they normally think of a bolt seal or something similar. However, there are many different types of tamper evident seal options available. Many of these are high-level seals, but there are also seals made specifically for trucks, pull-through plastic seals, cable and metal seals and even specialty seals.
One type of tamper evident seal that can be used on a truck includes the Simulock seal. This is a ring seal that is used on trucks, tankers, airline cargo and even in warehouses and rail wagons.
Pull-through plastic seals are meant for smaller items and have a large tag at one end. You place the end of the thin side through the hole and pull as tightly as required. They are similar to plastic ties.
Metal or cable seals are meant to go around the cargo or item and then are threaded into the second side of the locking mechanism. You continue pulling on the loose end until it is tight with the cargo, securing it in place. These can be either plastic or cable seals.
Some of the specialty seals are meant to be used on airlines and some look like small padlocks, but they are extremely durable and usually don’t come with keys. They must be cut away with special equipment.
In some cases, the tamper evident seal is a fixed length seal, which means you will need to consider the amount of cargo and the type of seal you require.
Other types of seals include the box seal that is meant to be placed on security boxes and other metal boxes to keep them closed.
A tamper evident seal is used when you want to ensure the container you are shipping stays closed until it is opened by the receiver. The container can be shipped by boat, train, truck or airplane and there are different seals available for each type of shipping vehicle. However, you can also seal the doors of the container.
High security seals are all tamper evident, but not every tamper evident seal is a high-security seal. If you require high security seals, then you should consider the C-TPAT seals only. However, for anyone who wants to make sure their containers are not being opened or stolen from, any tamper evident seal can work.
Maybe you need a Tamper Evident Seal? They come as different types.
