Tower Climbing Training is essential to keep workers and supervisors safe when climbing to and working at heights, confined spaces and/or with hazardous materials. Training is conducted on site at your facility or job location and should be taken by anyone who climbs large tower structures such as wind turbines, bridges, high line poles or rigging. The tower climber competent person training is a tow day training the consists of fall protection training and rules. It also covers the development of site specific applications. The first day is in a classroom setting your provide and the second day is entirely on location and up in your towers.
The classroom work covers vertical and horizontal climbing applications, a demonstration of the “personal fall arrest system (PFAS)” including the inspection and maintenance of it and practical experience in identifying and controlling fall hazards. The second day brings everyone out of the classroom and onto the towers they will be climbing on a regular basis. Field work includes inspecting harnesses, getting them to fit right and getting into them. Practicing suspension from heights, climbing the towers, rope inspection, selection and utilization and lifting tools/materials will be covered as well. Students are provided with a manual and need to bring their PFAS to training. Tower Climbing Training concludes with an exam, a certification of completion and an expiration date that lets you know when re-certification is due.
Most companies that provide this type of training, like Ellis Fall Safety Solutions LLC., provide other training and services as well. On site fall protection assessments and consultation services are offered. Some companies also offer litigation support in terms of explaining what training was completed and what products/safety precautions were used in regular work situations. There are training companies that recommend and sell safety equipment like ladders, hatch grips and scaffolding that are designed for high elevations and meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations. Your employees are the backbone of your company and making sure they are trained keeps them safe. Keeping them properly trained also saves your company money in worker’s compensation insurance rates and less falls and accidents.Visit Us for more information.
