The seasons have changed. We have summer behind us and looking full force into fall. With the change of the season our wardrobe changes and so should our makeup. Changing your makeup colors to the season will help you to look fresh and in trend. You don’t have to go all out bold in your color choices, subtle changes can make all the difference.
Our makeup artist gave us a few tips to help move us into fall with our makeup routine. If you haven’t’ noticed in the magazines, jewel tones are big this year in wardrobe so you can use this in your makeup as well. Going for a blushed cheek, smoked out eye or a berry/red lip can bring you on trend but don’t go too daring in colors.
Our makeup artist said to pick your feature to play up, eyes, check, or lips and keep the rest simple. With your eyes, apply a deeper jewel tone to the outer corner of your eye and blend out into the crease. You can even pull that jewel tone color under your bottom eyelashes and bring in about a quarter of the way then blend out with a lighter more neutral color. Or you can choose to apply a jewel-toned eyeliner. No need to get all crazy with a winged look but lining the eye with a pretty color can give your eye that fall look. To give your eyes a bit of a pop of color take a silver or white powder to the inside corner of the eye. This will help the eye to pop and look whiter and brighter. A trick makeup artist does all the time. Your eyes are the focus here so keep the rest of the face more natural.
For your cheeks you can opt for a darker plum or maroon color and use a light hand when you apply. Blend this out well. If you opt for the blush then play the eyes and the lips down allowing your checks to take center stage. You could go for the wind kissed look as well. To do this it’s a good idea to layer a lighter pink, as you normally would then layer a slightly brighter pink/rose just the apples then blend well. Always blend your blush well.
Your lips can be the focal point if you wish. This makeup artist says to go for either a berry lip or the bright red lip; both are on trend for fall. When using darker colors it’s a good idea to prime your lips first with a lip primer or a dab of foundation. This makeup artist trick will help the color to stay in place and not stray outside your lip line. Line the entire lip with a lip pencil in a matching color then dot the lip color over you lip blending out with your finger tip or lip brush. Again when going bold lip then keep the rest of your look neutral. Rocking the red bold lip is a great holiday look with that little black dress. Add a little shine with your favorite gloss and you are good to go.
