While a great many people assume that all Los Angeles rehabilitation programs are the same, there are a lot of variations and differences between agencies and organizations.

There is also a range of different services offered within any give Los Angeles rehabilitation programs. This is actually very beneficial as it allows the client, their family, and the treatment team to find a good combination of services, support and options to customize their recovery.

To have a better understanding of the different options for Los Angeles rehabilitation programs, reviewing the three most common program types is highly beneficial. Most people will start with inpatient care, but this is not always the case for every person.

Inpatient

Inpatient Los Angeles rehabilitation programs may also be called residential services. In these programs, the client lives within the same facility, or an associated facility, while undergoing treatment.

With inpatient, as with outpatient services, a detox program, either medically supervised or sub-acute, typically starts the program. These detox services may be completed in the treatment facility itself or through a hospital setting depending on the client, his or her health, and the actual substances in the body.

Sober Living

Not all Los Angeles rehabilitation programs offer sober living facilities. This is often a transitional option that allows clients to live in a monitored and supportive facility as a step between residential services and moving home.

Often sober living is recommended when recovering addicts live in a home where others are actively using or when they may not have any support systems in their own home and community. There is more freedom than in a residential treatment, but there is always staff available and the facility itself is maintained to sustain sober and clean living.

Intensive Outpatient

For those leaving inpatient Los Angeles rehabilitation programs, ongoing support, education, and therapy is highly recommended. Intensive outpatient programs allow for all of this while the individual is at home.

Most intensive outpatient programs are designed to allow the individual to work, spend time with the family, and still have the support they need. Process groups, individual services, 12-Step meetings and family support are often an essential and ongoing part of outpatient services.

For some individuals, including those with concerns of a relapse, intensive outpatient services may be the only requirement from Los Angeles rehabilitation programs. Having these options allows the individual, and the treatment team, to choose the best option given the circumstances.
