The process of buying and selling cars in United States is very easy. There is a huge stock of used and new cars with various car dealerships. All you need to do is decide the type of car you want, based on your budget.

However in United States, most people opt for Japanese cars, because of their easy re-salability. Regardless of the model and brand, make sure that the maintenance of the car is cheap and affordable. The following are some guidelines that will help you while buying used or new cars.
1.    The type of model: In United States, two categories of cars are available i.e. 2-door and 4-door. The 2-door is a cheaper option. You will also need to decide the type of transmission you want for your car. There are two types of transmissions, automatic and stick shift. The automatic transmission is most popular and easy to drive.

2.    Check the mileage: It is one of the major factors you need to take into consideration, while buying used and new cars. The ideal average mileage is 10000 miles per year. In case you are buying a used car, go for cars that have a lesser driven mileage.

3.    Check for emission: Emission is again an important factor while buying and selling used cars. Never opt for a car if its emission is black and thick. This signifies that oil is being burned with fuel and the car engine is quite damaged. In such situations, the piston rings usually leave a gap in the cylinders. Therefore the car will cost you a lot for remodeling, since you will have to change the piston, cylinder and rings.

4.    Vibrations: If you are buying used cars, check for the vibrations while you apply the brakes directly at 40mph. If there are vibrations, chances are high that the break pads or steering pinion are in poor condition. Make a sharp turn with at least four people sitting in the car to make out the condition of the suspension.

5.    Get an auto mechanic to check the technical issues: While you are visiting the dealer for buying used cars, it is advisable to take an auto mechanic along with you. The factors you need to check include rust in bottom, muffler, radiators and tailpipe, oil leaks, brake cylinder, gear, drum and worn out pads.

There are several car dealerships in United States, buying and selling both used and new cars. You can also refer to the local American Automobile Association office and they can recommend you to authentic dealers as well as give you detailed information on used and new cars. Whether you are opting for used or new cars, you need to get them insured. This is mandatory in the US and you cannot drive without a proper insurance.
