Purchasing a new home, whether it is your first one or you have bought and sold many times before, one of the important things to consider is the location of the home. The value of the home and its location are the two key elements to consider; you must yourself, “Where do I really want to live.”

There are three basic choices for Summerville SC real estate; you can choose the city, the country or the suburbs. When you make this choice do not let any romantic visions get in the way of making an intelligent choice. If you are a dyed in the wool city dweller, then face it. No matter how romantic it may seem, country living will not work out for you. This is the same for people who have country in their heart, the city is genuinely convenient, but the crowds and all the hustle and bustle can quickly get on your nerves.

Fortunately there is a middle ground that many people choose, Summerville SC real estate that is located in the suburbs. In the “burbs” you can find a degree of peace and quiet without getting too far off the beaten track. The downside to the suburbs is the fact that over time, it may become as congested as the city is today, plus they can be boring.

When you are buying that new home, ask yourself what you see in your future, what will you and your family be doing in ten years time?

The neighborhood:

One of the keys to a happy home life is security. It is important that all your family members are safe in their environment. Find out from others what the neighborhood is like, what is its reputation. Take time to walk around, keep a sharp eye out and talk to people. While you are out, look for local facilities such as sports fields and swimming pools.

Commuting:

The time to commute to and from work must be considered. It is of little value to move to the country if it takes you two stress filled hours to get to work and then again to get home. If you are a regular commuter using mass transit, then obviously there has to be trains, subways and bus service close to where you live.

Check out the things there are to do, is there nightlife close by, what about restaurants and shopping? Make sure there are hospitals and schools close by, you do not want your kids to have to commute and you do not want to be too far from medical help in the event of an emergency.
