How to Avoid a Moving Company Scam

Moving is rarely a task anyone looks forward to. It can be taxing and physically exhausting. Hiring a moving company in Asheville NC to make the move easier is a sensible solution. Yet, with the potential for scammers out there, you need to recognize the signs when a moving company is not what it says it is.

Five Signs of a Scam

In Asheville NC, you must check the following for each moving company. Any of these qualities may indicate the company may be part of a scam.

• Look for proper credentials: Is the company licensed? Is it in good standing with moving associations and organizations? Does it carry insurance? If not, look elsewhere.
• Read the reviews: Go beyond the website and read material on independent sites.
• Compare quotes: If a company’s quote is very low – too good to be true, it may be part of a scam.
• Visit their physical location: If the company does not have one, you should wonder why.
• Do not pay a large fee deposit: If the move does not occur or the company is scamming you, you will lose it in its entirety.

Above all, get everything in writing. You need to have a contract that details every aspect of your move. Do not forget to know what damages the company will cover.

Hire a Professional

When choosing a moving company to handle your earthly possessions, do not look to amateurs. Hire a professional with a good track record and a solid reputation. Do your due diligence.
